Get connected at the Mobile World Congress 2017

The largest gathering of the mobile industry in the world, The Mobile World Congress brings together developers, innovators and forward thinkers for a week of workshops, talks and expos that aim to peak into the future of mobile technology.

Organised by the GSMA, a body that represents over 800 operators and more than 250 companies in the mobile ecosystem, 2016’s conference saw over 2000 companies in attendance at the Fira Gran Via and Fira Montjuïc conference centre in Barcelona. The GSMA Innovation City allowed attendees to see first-hand how mobile-connected products are transforming people’s personal and working lives.

2017’s event will see an even more diverse cross section of the industry attending, with influencers, device makers, app developers, internet providers and software companies converging to ensure possibilities for collaboration and investment are immense. Over 2600 companies will be exhibiting across eight vast halls while a special Internet of Things pavilion will look into the ways mobile technology is revolutionising older industries and is paving the way to a new, hyper-connected global economy. A special display will also take a closer look at Graphene, the material that is promising to profoundly redefine the mobile and tech industries.

As you’d expect from the leading event in the European mobile calendar, The Mobile World Congress champions’ connectivity above all things. With mobile technology being one of the most rewarding sectors for investors over the past few years, the GSMA has gone to great pains to make sure the conference is well-equipped when it comes to networking and meet up areas. As well as dedicated networking spaces including VIP networking lounges and laid-back networking gardens, the conference will see a series of targeted networking sessions that allow people working in particular sub-sectors to discuss specialist topics. While all verticals of mobile are covered in some way, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Buzzfeed’s Jonah Peretti and Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton will be this year’s keynote speakers, reflecting the growing importance of mobile as a driver of innovation in tech.
