Few places in the world are able to match the sense of calm and tranquility that seems to exude effortlessly from the Island of Formentera. The island is known for being a place where time seems to move at a slower pace than the rest of the world, and Teranka, Formentera’s newest boutique art hotel, has managed to capture the essence of its environment in its purest form.
The name Teranka is inspired by the notion of ‘Terre d’Ancrage’ (English for Anchor land) – Teranka anchors you to the eternal rhythms of nature. Sitting between the canopy of green pines and the turquoise seas, it instils a feeling of calm well-being and belonging. In some ways, Teranka is almost the Antithesis of the likes of Playa d’en Bossa, Ibiza, which is technically just 24 kilometres away as the crow flies.
For those arriving from Ibiza, the hotel will provide Victor members with a complimentary boat transfer between the islands. On arrival, guests will be able to wind down with a wide range of options for wellness and relaxation, including peaceful cabanas and day beds, professional yoga and meditation sessions guided by experts. The hotel have reassured that massages and beauty treatments will feature only the finest natural products.
Formentera prioritises the protection of its Posidonia meadows and practices sustainable tourism by imposing strict limitations on the number of cars permitted on the island. Because Teranka is in one of the most remote locations on the island, the hotel has its own vehicles designated for guest transfers. Moreover, recognizing the importance of water conservation, Teranka boasts a top-tier filtration system that effectively recycles used water for irrigation. The hotel consciously avoids using single-use plastics and opts for sustainable and reusable materials whenever feasible.
The hotel will be open from the 28th of April 2023, and they are currently offering their newest guests a phenomenal offer – when staying a minimum of 2 nights (between 28th April and 31st May), the hotel is offering 1 x 3 course set lunch menu, including a glass of house wine for 2 persons (complimentary). When booking through Victor, members will receive 50,000 Alto points with their first booking, which can be used to discount prices on future flights and with our other partners.
Teranka is the ultimate base camp for exploring the rest of the island’s stunning natural beauty. Formentera has a rich cultural heritage that is deeply rooted in its history. The island’s small population of around 12,000 people is made up of a mix of locals, expats, and visitors, giving it a unique cosmopolitan vibe. The island’s main town, Sant Francesc Xavier, is a charming hub of activity, with a quaint town centre that is home to traditional restaurants, cafes, and bars.
Formentera is also home to a number of historic sites that are well worth visiting. The ancient Phoenician settlement of La Mola is a fascinating archaeological site, while the lighthouse at the island’s southern tip offers spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding landscape.
Formentera, and Teranka especially, is the ultimate destination for visitors who are looking to truly disconnect from the outside world and immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of the natural surroundings. It’s a place where the pace of life is slow, and where time seems to stand still.
